We know you have choices, so why would you want to work at VOICE?

What to Expect

We seek candidates who are passionate about education and caring about relationships with students, families, and colleagues.  Here is what to expect:

What grades and what positions are you currently hiring for?

VOICE’s hiring model looks different from other schools.  We hire for alignment with our core values (Efficacy, Care and Wonder) rather than for specific grade levels.

What is the selection process at VOICE?

We want everyone to have a positive candidate experience when interviewing at VOICE.  Following submission of an electronic application through our application portal, candidates who are selected to move forward will be scheduled for a phone interview with a member of our Selection Committee. The next step, if a candidate is to move forward, would be either a follow-up phone call, or an in-person interview with a several members of the Selection Committee.

Please note, all teaching candidates are asked to teach a lesson sample for our Selection Committee during the in-person interview stage of the selection process, so we can attain a sense of individual style and connection with the students.

Our recruiting staff will be available to assist and answer questions throughout the process.

Are there opportunities for growth for teachers that don’t involve having to go into administration?

Yes! Among other things, teachers can become grade team leaders and serve on different committees.

What does Special Education look like at VOICE?

Special Education is exhibited in a number of ways. Our Special Education teachers are either placed as part of the “Intervention” team, where they meet with students following a SETSS model of either pushing in, or pulling students out of a classroom, or they co-teach in ICT classrooms, where both a Special Education Teacher and a General Education Teacher are present.

What specials does the school offer to the students?

Aside from music, students also have access to art, science, physical education, and Mind/Body/Heart.  Middle School students are also offered a variety of electives.

What extra-curricular activities does the school offer?

We offer an after-school athletics program. The students have volleyball in the fall, basketball in the winter, and soccer in the spring. Additionally, we currently have a musical theater program, culminating in a performance each year.

How can I prepare for my phone and/or in person interview?

Prior to participating in a phone interview and/or an in-person interview, we encourage all candidates to review this website, where you can learn more about our mission and values, and obtain more knowledge on our culture.  We also recommend candidates take a look at our latest promotional video which really outlines what we're about. Moreover, we want to know who YOU are as a person, not just what your accomplishments have been. We want to hear about your story. As part of your preparation, we recommend that candidates meaningfully reflect on their experiences.

For teaching candidates who are invited for an in-person interview, we ask them to prepare a 10-20 minute lesson sample, which will be taught for an actual classroom of students. Prior to the in-person interview, candidates will be sent guidelines around the lesson sample.

What kind of PD opportunities are available for teachers & staff?

We strongly encourage continuous learning and development for all of our faculty and staff.

Staff who are new to VOICE will attend professional development sessions (PD) toward the end of August, where they will meet with our Deans and Instructional Directors, and receive in-depth training on our Workshop Model structure and different elements of teaching.  Teachers will attend PD sessions about once every 1-2 months. In addition, teachers can take in-service days, when they are able to work on PD while another individual covers their class for the day.

With regard to external training and development opportunities, all teachers and staff are encouraged to explore PD opportunities that they may find independently.

What does the benefits package consist of at VOICE?

Teachers are eligible to participate in the TRS plan and Support Staff can enroll in VOICE's 403B plan. In addition, faculty and staff have numerous opportunities to engage in internal and external learning and development programs.
